Present perfect tense

Can I use present perfect tense "has received" in this paragraph?

I had a good chat with Mary yesterday and she told me that her daughter is doing very well. She has received a scholarship and she is now attending a 3 month Mandarin program in Shanghai. Therefore she is not in Hong Kong now and therefore daughter is not able to sign the document that our company sent to her.
