Grammar

Present Perfect Simple or Continuous

1. What a lovely smell!
Mary has been making jam.

2. What a lovely smell!
Mary has made jam.

The grammar book I've been reading only accepts number 1. But wouldn't number 2 bee possible as well (a recent past action with a present result).

Thank you.

#1 seems more natural, but #2 is not wrong.
