Present Perfect Simple and Present Perfect Continuous

Could you please tell me if the Present Perfect Simple and the Present Perfect Continuous are interchangeable in this sentence?

The children are too tired because they haven't slept/haven't been sleeping all night.

Or maybe the Present Perfect Continuous isn't used in this case? If so, please explain why. Thank you in advance.
