Present perfect or past simple

I have a question about a fill in the blanks question. I think the answer should be present perfect, however I'm not sure about it because of the second part which is in past simple. Here's the question:

Marry and James__have paraglided___(paraglide) together. I think the view was charming for them.

Top answer

"the view" means that there was one event, and the event is past. Use the simple past. If there are several events, and a general conclusion, use the present perfect.

  • "the view" means that there was one event, and the event is past.
  • Use the simple past.
  • If there are several events, and a general conclusion, use the present perfect.
  • Marry and James _have paraglided__ many times together.
  • I think they do this because they like the views from high up.

Thanks for the answer. How about this one?
"Marry _______(not write) the last answer with a blue chalk but a red one."

From your comment I think the answer should be past simple again. As "the last answer" suggests that there was one event again so we should use past simple : " didn't write". However, I'm not sure about as there are no time expressions which will make this sent

tomengCan we use present perfect as well here ?
Yes. With no more context, numerous tenses are possible here. The present perfect would emphasise that the results are visible and relevant now.

Are you sure it is "Marry" and not "Mary"?
