Present perfect and past simple in one sentence.

I had a test a few days ago. There was one sentence on that test that I wasn't sure of.
The sentence was: He was very scared because has never/had never flown in a pane before.
My question is : Should I use Past perfect or should I use Present perfect ?

Top answer

He is very scared because he has never flown in a plane before. He was very scared because he had never flown in a plane before. I assume you accidentally missed out the word "he".

  • He is very scared because he has never flown in a plane before.
  • He was very scared because he had never flown in a plane before.
  • I assume you accidentally missed out the word "he".
  • Also "pane" should obviously be "plane".
