Present perfect

I'm no longer living in New York so Could I say this now that I've moved to Mississippi:

"I've been called so many names in New York." Or does the sentence not make sense?

Thank you.

Top answer

It is correct but needs the context. I've been called so many names in New York, that I'm glad I moved to Mississippi.

What about:

I've been called so many names in New York, so name calling to me is just all the same and unimportant.

Hi Dave,
If I came across as being rude, it is because sugar-coating fact is not something I do very well.
I think people can distinguish deliberate doubleposting from the system malfunction variety. I understand folks such as yourself would find my comment offensive; for that, I apologize., However, for th

I think that is is very important that the people posting have good manners, if (I find them rude I won't reply). It does work both ways though, we must also be polite to them.

Clive replied in a way that imformed rather than demolished the person although was strict. As a native speaker of English, I have seen (and dealt with) many problems caused due to misunderstanding in language

Hi Dave,
Your comments are appreciated. I am completely convinced with your thoughts. That said, just to keep the record straight, I did politely asked " please do not repost questions which have been answered" prior to Clive's comments on another thread, not that it would make a difference in the outcome. I am not trying to be rude but I do realize that sometimes, because of my straightshoot

Lam,

I didn't mean that you didn't understand, as such that a clash of different cultures do offen cause offense, due to a lack of understanding rather than somebody wishing to appear rude. I have been a manager of people from different cultures and can be a constant nightmare. You're right machines don't get upset by our traits, but I wouldn't want to cuddle up to one!
