Present participle/ Gerund?

1. Wrapping up, I’d like to thank you for patiently listening to this episode on a very confusing topic!
2. I saw a skiing monkey. (in my dream :-D)
Could you please tell me whether 'listening' and 'skiing' , in the above sentences ,are present participles or gerunds?

They're not gerunds because they don't occur in the given sentences where nouns would normally occur (subjects, objects, etc.).

But, they can be replaced by a simple noun, like this:
1. I saw Sam. (Sam=object)
2. Wrapping up, I’d like to thank you for this. (this=object of preposition )
What do you think?

I saw a skiing monkey. 'Skiing' here is adjectival. It describes what the monkey was doing.

But now consider this.
I saw a skiing teacher. This could be adjectival, describing what the teacher was doing.

My comments applied to 'wrapping' and 'skiing'. I actually missed 'listening', not thinking you'd put two examples in one sentence.
