Which one is correct?
1. This cloth is made of cotton.
2. This cloth was made of cotton.
(if that cloth is displayed in the shop.)

# 1 is correct. It describes the general information about the material the cloth is made of, it is true then and it is still true now.

# 2 is correct if the cloth no longer exists. If the cloth is in front of you, then the used of "was" would be semantically incorrect.
