Present or past tense

Hi all,

Let's say I go to a particular website to check for a book's price. How should I report this finding to a third party?

1. The price of ABC book was $12.
2. The price of ABC book is $12.

Hello Kit I would say either of these: 1. ' 2. ' With #1, you're assuming that the price hasn't changed.

I would say either of these:

1. 'I looked on Amazon, and the price of ABC is $12.'
2. 'I looked on Amazon, and the price of ABC was $12.'

With #1, you're assuming that the price hasn't changed. With #2, you're stating the price at the time you looked.

Probably #1 is more common.

You could also say:

3. 'I looked on Amazon,
