Grammar

Present or past perfect?

Hi,

I just read this sentence from a news article and am wondering if it shouldn't be present perfect rather than past?

Here it is...

' In just 24 hours after posting on Facebook, this woman had inspired thousands to change their lives.'

I know there are two events here, but it doesn't sound right to me.

Thanks

Cup cake from a news article Then the grammar should be OK. Cup cake I know there are two events here, but it doesn't sound right to me. It sounds OK to me; the writer wishes to emphasize that the triumph was in the past.

  • Present perfect would be wrong since the 24 hours are presumably well past.

Thanks Mr M.

Actually, it doesn't sound quite as bad reading it again now.

Hmmm, I'm wondering if I'm over sensitive to just about EVERYTHING I read.

Btw, a published article in an online newspaper doesn't necessarily mean it's grammatically correct. I find mistakes everyday as I read online news. lol.
Sure, some are just typos, but many are aren't.
