Present or past?

For example,

I have many bad experiences on these issues so I am not going to help you now.

I had many bad experiences on these issues so I am not going to help you now.

Which one is correct? "Experiences" is usually a past event. I'm really not sure and unable to give a promising answer to my child when he asked me.
