Present Indefinite with the whole period or the starting point?

Hello, i wish you Excellent Health. Could i ask simple question ?Use present indenfinite or progressive is correct with certain time indications, either the whole period or the starting point?. Example : I am an artist for twenty years( since my childhood)I am cooking for ten minutes(since morning)

As far as I know, nobody is using the terminology "present indefinite" these days. I think you mean the non-continuous form of the present tense, called the simple present or sometimes the present simple.

Both are used with time expressions.
