Present continuous for repetition

Do we use present continuous for repetition or habit? What is the difference in usage?

-I do that every day.

-I'm doing that every day.

Some say the latter is for known definite period. Any truth in that?

Can the same be applied to actions in the past or the future?

Thanks for comments!
