Present progressive is very commonly used to express future contexts, as well as the present.
Mary and I are taking a dance class next week.
I am taking two weeks off to Hawaii next month.

Hi teachers,

Please correct my sentence if my understanding is wrong.

I am reading this book "The Alchemist" this month. (meaning unfinished long action?)

In both the lailalaila's sentence and yours, Mudclay, the present progressive indicates that the event is happening NOW, that is, in the first sentence it is currently 'this week' and in your sentence you are currently reading the book 'this month'. Although another interpretation is possible (present continuous for near future), only further context would make that clear, and it has nothing dire

No, that won't be the correct use in my opinion.
What are you doing?
I am reading a book. - This is a correct present progressive application.

Another one for present progressive (temporary event/action).

My brother is staying with me this month or maybe until he finds a new apartment.

My interpretation is. "My brother (will) stay in my apartment temporarily (the whole month) 'till he finds his." Is it natural to your ear?

Another one for present progressive (temporary event/action) -- 'Temporary', again, is not the point: it is happening right now (present) or in the near future.

My brother is staying with me this month or maybe until he finds a new apartment. My interpretation is. "My brother (will) stay in my apartment temporarily (the whole month) 'till he finds his." Is it n

My interpretation:

I am reading this book next month.-- "I have a definite plan to read this next month."
I am reading this book this month --" I am reading it now (Jan.6) and continue reading till Jan.31."

My brother is staying with me (this month) until he finds a new apartment. -- "He is with me NOW."
My brother is stay

It might help if you place the time of action at the beginning of the sentence.

By doing so, there is less room for confusion. Events currently taking place (present continuous) are clearly expressed, as are intentions to do something in the future (I will read).

This month, I am reading The Alchemist.
Next month, I will read The Alchemist.
Next month, my br
