Present

Rather than being about fulfilling certain conditions, happiness is about being receptive, about opening to what’s good in the present moment-here, now, and this. When we are receptive, we know every moment that wonderful healing and nourishing things surround us. The song of the birds on my walk is nothing less than astonishing, but only if I am present and open.

In this context, does 'am present' mean being awaken or simply exist?

'Being present' could mean 'being attentive.'

Maybe this equal to 'being awake' too.
