Prese. Perf+ Past simple in the same sentence?

Hello!
Is it possible to say something like this:
Have you ever asked anyone what they thought about the topic?

I wonder - present perfect in the second part of the sentence somehow doesn't sound right, but on the other hand I am not really sure, if present perfect doesn't exclude the possibility of using Past Simple. What do you think?
