Prerequisite

Hi.
These are two examples of 'prerequisite'-usage by CALD:

Public support is a prerequisite for/to the success of this project.

They had to agree to certain conditions as a prerequisite of being lent the money.

Could you please explain what the first sentence gives only 'to' as alternative for 'for'?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, soheil1 Could you please explain why the first sentence gives only 'to' as an alternative for 'for'? Because prerequisite can go together with either for or to in this sentence in order to make sense. These are the natural collocations in this case, and this is how English works.
