Prepositions of time

Hello,

Can "since" be used just after a given timeframe like this? I want to convey that Beth had tried talking to her best friend in the three weeks since she last saw her:

In the three weeks since she last met Wendy, Beth had tried calling her. But she couldn't reach her.
