Prepositions needed?

Hi. Should we (I?) put the preposition "at" before these what I consider as verbs that carry action ("action" verbs??)?

sniffed (at??) him

prodded (at??) him

snuffled (at??) him

pushed (at??) him

pawed (at??) him

nuzzled (at??) him

Top answer

)? ) him 'At' focuses on the action happening. eg I pushed at him .

  • eg I pushed at him .
  • This makes me think of my arm going out towards him.
  • The words don't actually make it completely certain that I was successful in touching him.
