Prepositions 2

Hello,

Could you check the use of prepositions in these examples?

Along/across/up/down/past/round/trough/into

Go out of the hotel and straight along the road to the other side. Then walk pass Peter Street to the post office. At the post office turn right and go through the park. It's a nice walk and you'll go past a statue of William Shakespeare come out of the park and turn into Dover Street. James street is the third street on the left. You''see the restaurant on the right just after the bank.

Can I use 'across' and 'along' interchangeably here?

Thanks

When using along, think of length. Across gets you over something. Consider the difference between along the street and across the street.

I can imagine going 'along the street, but no 'across' it. It's confusing me.

If we walk from one side of the street to the other, we cross the street or go across it.
