Both are OK in their place. I would use these:

He began to use carbon fibre blades at the age of 15 shortly before competing in his first paralympics in Beijing .
In 2012 , he won the gold medal in the 200 metres at the 2012 London Paralympics .

Many thanks sir but if you please explain to me why you use 'in' before 'paralympics ' in the first one and 'at' before 'paralympics' in the second . And what about 'for the 200 metres' ? Is it correct if I say so ?

For the 200 metres would also be a good choice.
Otherwise, I would use the same prepositions recommended by Mister Micawber.
Preposition use in English is frequently rather inconsistent, and is often hard to explain.

Anonymousplease explain to me why you use 'in' before 'paralympics ' in the first one and 'at' before 'paralympics' in the second .
All I can say for sure is that 'compete in' collocates naturally for me.

AnonymousThanks mister
You need a comma after 'Thanks'.

Mr Micawber is normalyl addressed by his full name, or as Mister M or MM, not as mister.
