Good afternoon everybody
well I am an english learner and I am analyzing some errors so I would like to know the difference between those sentences:

Ebola got its name after a river in the north part of Congo.

Ebola got its name after a river in the north part in Congo.

I know that the first one is the correct one, but why?

"Of" is correct.

If you are talking about a named area (the name of a territory, district), or a specific type of geographical area (county, state, neighborhood, city, town, etc.) then "in" would be used. General descriptions "north part", "east half" or "southern section" use of.
