I would like to know which preposition to use from the two and when -- "about" and "on"

With which verb or verbs? With which noun or nouns?

You might just look up the two words in a dictionary if you just want a general idea of how they differ.

With "talk", "on" is in a slightly higher register than "about", but the two are otherwise the same in meaning:

He gave a talk about wild b
