Prepositional phrases did I do this one right

In my assignment I have to join sentences by using prepositional and infinitive phrases

Olof Ohman discovered the Kensington Runestone.
The date was 1898.
Olof removed the stump from a field.
The stump had roots.
The stone was beneath the roots.

could any one help with this one.

Look at the data. There's only one stone, and it's beneath the roots. How did you end up with stonesin your version? Where did the extra stones come from?

You realize, don't you, that the (one) stone beneath those roots was the famous Kensington Runestone? There's not just any old stones under there. There's a famous stone there!

Also, it says Olofremoved the stump. You've got somebody else removing the stump because you changed it to "had a stump removed". How did that extra person get into this story?

The stone was beneath the roots.

You started out correctly by using the date right at the beginning. You don't need the comma, but you've got the right idea anyway.

So how about starting like you did:

In 1898 Olof Ohman discovered the Kensington Runestone ...

And then next in the sentence say where he discovered it. Hint: The stone (the Runestone) was beneath the roots.
Then next say something about what the roots belonged to. Hint: The stump had roots. Hint: The preposition of shows what belongs to what.

Then next say something about that. Hint: What was Olof doing about it? Hint: removed the stump from a field.

How about trying again? Start like I showed you and follow through the steps I gave you. You should be able to put all this in one sentence.
