Prepositional phrase after an adverb of place

Hello teachers,

-She stays away from me.

I'd like to know the syntactical role of the prepositional phrase "from me" in the sentence given above. The word "away" is an adverb of manner in the sentence, but I don't know what the grammatical function of "from me" is. Please clarify this thing.

Thank you.

I would tend to see "away from" as a compound preposition. She stays near me. She stays away from me.
