Preposition Use

Hello. Could someone please help me clear up an issue I'm having with correct preposition use in the sentence I've reproduced here?

"My primary duties consisted of coaching clients on how to identify areas of weakness and mentoring clients in building self-confidence.

Are the prepositions used (in bold) correct? I'm being advised to change "on" to "in."

If the sentence were to read, "My primary duties consisted of coaching clients in identifying areas of weakness ...," would the use of "in" here be correct?

I'm generally confused whether words like instructing, mentoring, coaching, and even tutoring take the preposition "in" or "on."

Thanks very much for your help.

" I would try to avoid "how", and use gerunds rather than a combination of gerunds and infinitive. The prepositions you used are the ones I would use. "My primary duties consisted of coaching clients on (the subject of) identifying areas of weakness and mentoring clients in building self-confidence.
