preposition "from"

Hi.

I m questioned about the meaning of the "form" in this case: You could tell she wasn't lying from fear in her voice.

May I rephrase it this way: you could tell she wasn't lying judging by the fear in her voice ?

Do I catch the meaning?

Thanks.
