Preposition placement - “vote for”

Hey guys, please, which one of those are correct?

  1. You are critical thinkers, who will vote exactly for who I tell you to.
  2. You are critical thinkers, who will vote exactly for whom I tell you.
  3. You are critical thinkers, who will vote for exactly who I tell you to.
  4. You are critical thinkers, who will vote exactly who I tell you to vote for.
  5. You are critical thinkers, who will vote exactly who I tell you for.

Thanks a lot!

It is a tricky sentence to write well. (4) and (5) are ungrammatical. "exactly for" in (1) and (2) is not the natural word order.

  • (3) may be passable, but if I did use this style I think I might say it in full: You are critical thinkers, who will vote for exactly who I tell you to vote for.
  • Or this is another possibility: You are critical thinkers, who will vote exactly as I tell you.
