Preposition, in or on?

Hi teachers,

I have found this sentence in a book:

The bus we traveled in broke down on the way to the airport.

Shouldn't it be?

The bus we traveled on broke down on the way to the airport.

Thanks in advance

Probably, yes, but "the bus we travelled in" doesn't sound nearly as odd to me as "get in the bus." I'm not sure why.

But in the end, yes, I'd suggest using "on" as you have suggested.
