Preposition help.

Sentence: It is not working properly from/since the evening.

Question: Which preposition is correct to use in the sentence?

Thanks for both replies. Can you tell the reason for choosing since over from? Because there is not much difference in their functions. Most of the times they are interchangeable and it is tricky to choose the correct one, therefore I want to know the reason.

In time expressions, "from" is used for intervals, and "since" is used when the end point is not specified:

It was not working from 2 pm to 4 pm.

It was not working from 2 pm until early evening.

It has not been working since 2 pm.
