Preposition

Folks,

Preposition is always a confusing one! I would be needing your help to crack this out. In Vs On Vs Of.
Sometimes, it's really hard to determine which one would be the suitable one for the phrase/sentence.

Example sentence:

In these days, it's really hard to keep something in my mind, but this granny does that.

On my mind is the right one, or in my mind is the correct one?

Also, lemme know what's the general guidelines to follow whilst using prepositions.

P.S; I knew it's really tough to come as a conclusion, but someone could gimme the correct answer for it Emotion: smile Thanks!

First, I suggest that you avoid using non-words like "lemme" and "gimme" in writing if you want to be taken seriously. " What does "this granny does that" have to do with "it's really hard to keep something in my mind"?? " "In my mind" is less common, and tends to be used more when you are talking about your mental state or contrasting your own viewpoint or imagination with objective reality.

I don't understand your sample sentence, so I'm not sure whether you want "in my mind" or "on my mind." What does "this granny does that" have to do with "it's really hard to keep something in my mind"??

Dear Veteran,

Thanks for your concern in taking part in correcting my sentences.

But, there's no hard and fast that anything should be used like that or this in these days. There's no rule set like that. Everyone has their own way of using sentences with limited grammar clauses.

No wonder, somebody would find a glitch on your sentence too

madenglishguy,
if you already know all the answers why do you ask for help?
I also have a hard time with prepositions, it is hard to get the hang of them as they seem to act as they please, at least in English.

I regret for the previous messages which have been sent by my name. One of my friend played a game when I was away. Thanks for all your help.

I regret the inconvenience caused.

As moving forward, that wouldn't continue. I have changed my computer password.

Thanks Kheoff, and moderators.
