Preposition

Hi.

Which preposition is right in the following sentence?

The time is up/over.

I think we have to use up for time and over is used for things like class, game, etc.

I would be thankful if you could help me in this regard.

Cheers

Yes you are right Hamid We say time is up, but some times we also say time is over, that is not incorrect but in case of class and game we always say over but not up

Hi.

Thanks for yor reply.

Do yo know me? That's interesting that you know my first name.

Is there any difference between the time is up and over.

Hi,

In most contexts, the common phrase is 'Time's up'.

You'd need some more unusual kind of context to say ' . . . time is over.'

Hi Clive.

Thanks for yor reply.

I also find time is over unusual.
