Preposition

Hello All,
I have heard people say "Where are you at?"

Is the "at" in the above question needed, or is it wrong to use it?

I would think that "where" serves the purpose and hence "at" should not be used.

Thanks,
Prasanna

  • " That's true.

  • It would be wrong to use the version with "at" in a formal situation, however.
  • I recommend that you not use "at" in that question, all the while understanding that sometimes people do add that word.
