prepare/make/fix

Hi,

Do 'prepare', 'fix', and 'make' have any difference in meaning in the sentence?
'Mom always makes us breakfast.'
'Mom always fixes us breakfast.'
'Mom always prepares us breakfast.'

I don’t see any real difference in the basic meaning. But whichever one you choose to use will certainly say something about your socioeconomic and/or your geographic background. Mom always makes us breakfast.

I believe 'fix' in this sense is a feature primarily of American English.
