Prepare to do

I am preparing to study English.

Here to study English functions as an adverb or an object?

1) I am here to meet you (adverb)
2) I want to meet you (object)

What do you native English speakers think?

Thank you so much as usual.

  • Hans51 1) I am here to meet you (adverb)2) I want to meet you (object "I want to meet you" is the same, but "I am here to meet you is different", there being no catenative verb.
  • In that case "to meet you" means "in order to meet you", so is adverbial as you say.
