Preparatory

Hello everyone,

Can we use "preparatory school" instead of "high school" in English? In my language "mother tongue" we say say a word if I translate it into English it becomes "preparatory". Isn't the term odd to you?

E.g. He studies in Dalas coeducational preparatory school.

Regards,

JA
