Prejudicial

Hello,

During my reading, I came across the pair of words "prejudicial attitude." I figured that this meant the attitude was characterized by prejudice; i.e., that one thought or behaved with prejudice or out of prejudice. I was quite perplexed (and still am) to find that dictionary.com defines this word as

"causing prejudice or disadvantage; detrimental."

The especially perplexing part came when I searched the meaning of suffix 'al,' which dictionary.com defines 

"of the kind of, pertaining to, having theform or character of"
