what is the reason for verb to be attach prefix un but cannot be attached by prefix dis?

Top answer

There is no reason except usage. You cannot freely add affixes; you must use the dictionary to see what is already in use. However, those two do often have slightly different meanings: 'un' means 'not'; while 'dis' often means 'made not'.
