"Prefer" with "rather than"

How would you say this sentence please?

1 I would have preferred he did that (rather) than went out./I would prefer he does that (rather) than he goes out.

Well, it depends on the time that all this is taking place. I would suggest: I would prefer that he do that rather than go out. (current time) I would have preferred that he had done that rather than having gone out.

Well, it depends on the time that all this is taking place.

I would suggest:

I would prefer that he do that rather than go out. (current time)

I would have preferred that he had done that rather than having gone out. (past)

That is in common usage. To be technically correct, it should be I (I'd rather she drove than (that) I drove.), but you are more likely to hear spoken what you have written.
