Prefer not-would like + verb ing ?

Could I use these verbs with gerunds instead of infinitives? Many sources say not to use these with the ing verb, but in my opinion, the meaning changes more or less depending on whether or not I use a gerund or an infinitive. Please tell me what you think of this.

  • he prefers not having you as a friend (instead of: I prefer not to have you as a friend)?
  • he would like watching this? --> In this situation, I feel like the meaning changes compared to I would like to watch this.
  • he would like not having to do this --> I think it is the same as he would like not to have to do this. Although the latter is odd.

Thank you very much.
