In reported speech questions are changed into statement forms- that is predicate + subject to subject + predicate and...
Now what are predicates in these sentences?
My brother asked you, "what is tge problem?"
My brother asked you what the problem was.

John is asking you, " do you go to school everyday?"
John is asking you if you go to school every day.
