Predated? & The same can be said of for

StartFragment>

1. In the below sentence, the word "predated" seems irrelevant.

Can you present me alternative word for that?

If relevant, can you explain why to me?

2. In "The same can be said of for the dwellings," "for" seems redundant, I mean it seems no problem without for. Am I right?

1. In some of the interior regions of Africa, especially where rainfall was light and thatch scarce, flat-roofed rectangular structures that predated outside contact were the most common. The homes and community dwellings of the Hehe and Gogo of Tanzania and of the Masai reveal rectilinear characteristics totally unlike the coastal structures. 2. The same can be said of for the dwellings of the Sebei, who have built long, low, rectangular houses on the southern slopes of Mount Elgon in Uganda since long before pre-colonial times.
