Practise or practice (again)?

Hi,

I thought I had got this sorted in my head, but I have just written the sentence below and realised I once more have confusion over the spelling of 'practise/practice'.

Could someone please tell me the correct spelling in the following sentence and why.

Thank you in advance.

SENTENCE: The officer put his newly assigned authority into practice.

Kind wishes ~ Patrick
