Practioners/Players--called traceurs

Parkour is often defined as the art of movement. Practioners-called traceurs-train their bodies and minds so they can move from one place to another as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Hi,
Is "practioners" in the above equal to "players?" If not, what are the basic differences? Thanks.

The word is practitioner , and is one word used in place of player when the activity is not an obvious game (usually with opponents) like soccer, tennis or chess. Parkour is called freerunning in English, and is a sort of 'Zen' sport like aikido, I suppose-- where a practitioner is one who practices hard at a relatively complex and basically self-challenging activity.

Spelling is not correct - practitioner. definitions:

1. a person engaged in the practice of a profession, occupation, etc.: a medical practitioner.
2. a person who practices something specified.
Players means participants in a game. They don't have to be trained or skilled like a practitioner.
