I just looked thru the many suggested references in the salmon colored section. No help.
I remember in the forties we used to send packages "post paid" in the US. This was an alternative to sending them "collect," or "postage due."
"C.O.D." of course included both the postage and the cost of the merchandise.
(This probably has nothing to do with the poster's usage.)
