Vocabulary

power and fear

Hello!

Can you please tell me if it is Ok to say (in the context of let's say Orwell's '84): power and fear gamble with state security/safety of the country?

Thank you

The phrase makes sense (except that 'state security of the country' is redundant)-- I don't think it accurately reflects the theme of 1984 , however. Power and fear are the means of state security.

Thanks, Mr M. Of course it does not, but you knew what I had in mind. Emotion: smile
