Hello everyone!
I wrote a small topic for my postgraduate English lesson. I'm not good at writing, so I want somebody to take a look. I'm not asking to check the whole text, but if you will find some obvious mistakes I will really appreciate that.
POSTGRADUATE TOPIC
Since I’m just in my first year of a post-graduate course my idea of the dissertation to be submitted in three years is rather hypothetical. Theoretically, I realize it’s to be composed of an introduction, two or three chapters, conclusion, bibliography, supplement, if necessary. Still, I can explain the basic points of my research right now.
To start with, the topic of the thesis sounds like that: “Development of elements of an autonomous driving system based on artificial intelligence”.
The relevance of the topic is as follows - the automotive industry is undergoing a significant transformation: the largest car manufacturers, together with IT and telecom developers, are moving towards creating vehicles with the possibility of fully autonomous driving. The trend is obvious - in the future, unmanned vehicles will become a mass phenomenon.
The development of automatic piloting systems will significantly increase road safety on public roads. And also to optimize traffic congestion due to automation of management and elimination of the human factor when driving a vehicle.
The purpose of my dissertation is: development of fragments of a system that allows automatic piloting of a vehicle
As part of the formation of the topic, the following tasks were set
The scientific novelty of the thesis is as follows:
Development of machine vision solutions applicable in the field of traffic. Automatic piloting system available for implementation in any vehicle.
Perhaps this solution can be implemented in vehicles for personal use.
My supervisor is S. Smagin. He is a correspondent member of the RAS. Four students have defended their Ph.D. theses under his leadership so far.
This is my first year of study, so I have not had time to work closely with him yet. But at the initial stages of my study, in particular, when I chose the topic of my scientific research, he showed an active interest in the correctness of its formulation. Unfortunately, my supervisor is a very busy person and we can’t meet often. Even to discuss my work progress. We meet only when it’s really necessary. For example, at the end of last semester, we met to write a review of my work on philosophy.
My supervisor pays very great attention to the competent construction of the text. In my opinion, even too great attention. Because absolutely every mistake made in a hurry will be emphasized. Which sometimes significantly reduces my motivation as a student. It’s hard for me to talk about his professionalism in my field of research because not much has been done at the moment. But I hope that everything will be changed soon.
To be honest, I did not attend many scientific conferences. I mainly attended conferences related to my main specialty and programming.
I’ll tell you about one of these conferences. I visit it regularly, it is held every six months in the city of Khabarovsk, in spring and autumn. The main topic of the conference is computer security. The conference is held at the PNU.
I am one of the organizers of this conference. For the first time, my classmates and I organized it 3 years ago. This event includes 3 stages – CTF(Capture The Flag) online/offline competition, analysis of tasks, and a section with reports where everyone can speak on computer security or talk about their task that was presented at the competition.
The conference is aimed at schoolchildren and students. At the online stage, we observe participants from all over Russia, and participants from the Khabarovsk and Primorsky regions come to the offline stage. For all visitors, we prepare free places in dormitories. The main sponsors of our conference are Roskomnadzor and Rostelecom.
This conference turned out to be an excellent opportunity to acquire new meetings, develop the skills of the organizer, and also study the problems of computer security in depth. And the realization that no one except us holds conferences on this topic in the whole Far East has contributed to the fact that I did not stop participating in them even after graduation.
