Postgraduate Motivation Letter

Hello everyone,
I created my first motivation letter and would appreciate any feedback on it! Many thanks in advance! 

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to apply for the Master’s Degree in [whatever study] at [whatever uni] starting in the autumn term 2012.

After completing the Master's Programme, I plan to continue my career in [whatever] sector.

In 2003 I began to study a Bachelor’s Degree in [whatever study] at [whatever uni] in [whatever country]. The emphasis of my studies was to understand the formal and technical
mapping and modelling of operational structures and processes, and on the implementation of
corresponding information systems. I gained knowledge in various subjects like mathematics,
statistics, algorithms, object-oriented programming, databases and software development
methodologies.
Along with my studies I worked 5 years part-time as a [whatever position] on numerous projects in
[country 1], [country 2] and [country 3] at [whatever company], based in [whatever city]. My responsibilities and tasks were consulting and independent implementation of Data warehouse solutions. I realized the whole chain of Data warehousing, beginning with building of ETL-Processes, transformation into a Star Schema and based on this creating OLAP Cube, ending with building reports for the end-users.

Due to the unique chance of working for an international company I decided in 2005 to accept a fulltime
position as an [whatever position] at [whatever company] in [whatever city], specialized in [whatever business]. It
is very interesting and challenging to analyse and structure complex real time data from the [whatever business].
This Master's Programme offers an excellent balance between theory and application and covers
theory and methods in emerging fields that require analysis of complex data such as the [whatever sector].
I realize the highly competitive demands of the program, but I gained enough ability, ambition and
motivation from my previous work experiences to cope with the requirements for a successful study
at [whatever uni]. I’m well informed of the seriousness of the heavy loaded Master’s
curriculum, but I’m prepared to comply with this study curriculum which I found extremely
interesting.
