Poster boy for rehab...

Jimmi: Look, if this is another attempt to
turn me into the poster boy for rehab, (To make him find his path againg?)
cancel the photo shoot, 'cause I'm not interested.
Oliver: I didn't call you here for a lecture. Just this. It's the money you asked for.
Jimmy: Forget it. I don't need your handout.
Oliver: Oh, it's not a handout. It's your first paycheck.
Jimmy: Let me guess... got 12 steps attached to it. It's full of catches?

Oliver: Well, only if you decide not to
take the elevator to your office.
Is he just kidding? Meaning only if you choose
the hard way yourself?

'only if you decide not to take the elevator to your office' could well be a jokey way of saying 'unless you take a short cut'.

It sounds like a really bad book - what could be termed 'pulp fiction', which means a book made for throwing away when read and turned into wood pulp, as opposed to a book that you might want to keep and read again in the future. Where is the text from, please?
