What is it? Is it actually a board or paper?
I've never heard of it or seen it. However, I googled it and found some information, such as the following. 'Four-ply' means four thicknesses. It sounds like 4 pieces of paper stuck together to make one stiff piece.

Does anyone know that term?Yes, Bristol board has a particularly firm and glassy surface that recieves pen and ink lines very precisely. It is less appropriate for pencil , chalk, and charcoal.
